Woman falls from balcony in suspected attempted murder in Stockholm

A woman in her early twenties fell from a second-floor balcony in Stockholm early Saturday, prompting police to detain a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police were alerted just before 02:30 local time after residents reported the incident on Gärdet. Authorities have not yet established how the woman exited the balcony, but a man matching her age was taken into custody near the apartment.

“The man was in or near the apartment,” said Ola Österling, police spokesperson. “They know each other, but the exact relationship is still under investigation.”

The woman’s injuries remain unclear, though police state she is conscious. Both individuals are aged between 20 and 25.

Investigators have interviewed witnesses and conducted a crime scene examination at the location where the woman was found and inside the apartment.
