A minor boy drowns in Huittinen

A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Loimijoki river in Huittinen on Friday evening, the Finnish emergency services said.
The incident occurred at a riverside swimming spot in the village of Loima in Huittinen. Emergency services received a call at 19:05 and found two underage boys in the water. One was pulled to shore by bystanders, while the other was not recovered.
The boy brought to shore was taken to hospital for treatment. Rescue services, police, and air units from FinnHEMS and the Finnish Border Guard were deployed to the scene.
Police have launched an investigation but do not suspect foul play at this stage.
