Person killed in shooting in Nørresundby

A civilian has died after a shooting incident in Nørresundby, North Jutland, police confirmed Friday.

Officers responded to a report of a fire in an industrial area on Virkelyst when gunfire was directed at them. One civilian and one officer were struck by gunfire. The suspect was also shot and is hospitalized in serious condition, according to a statement from North Jutland Police.

The officer remains in stable condition, police said.

Police describe the incident as an “isolated episode” and continue to secure the area around the scene. Residents are advised to avoid the vicinity.

“We need to thoroughly investigate the entire sequence of events,” said Police Inspector Claus Danø. “We do not yet know the precise circumstances, particularly what led to the shooting. This is what our forward-looking investigation must now clarify.”

Police urge witnesses to come forward with any information.
