The Faroe Islands will experience a 91 percent solar eclipse on 12 August, the Faroese Meteorological Office reports.
Unlike the total eclipse in 2015, the moon will cover 91 percent of the sun, allowing only a sliver of sunlight to pass. The office warns that protective eyewear remains essential, as the visible light will still be nearly as intense as full sunlight.
The eclipse begins at 16:04 local time, peaks at 18:06, and ends at 18:58. At its start, the sun will be visible in the northwest; at maximum eclipse, it will be due west.
