The Gloria shelter in Klaksvík, which has operated as a homeless shelter since 2018, will expand into a new building, reports Kringvarp Føroya.

A long-vacant house on Stangavegur, formerly used by the Soli Deo Gloria congregation, has served as the shelter. Due to rising homelessness, the facility will now be replaced by a purpose-built structure.

Construction began in February, with completion expected by the turn of the year. The new building will include six rooms and be fully enclosed.

Mamy Dahl Sørensen, the project manager, described Gloria as “a proper, ordinary home.” The shelter is open to people from across the Faroe Islands.
