Police in South Ostrobothnia are seeking public tips after headless animal remains, possibly from livestock, were discovered near a railway in the Mikkilä area of Kauhava.
A landowner found bones and heavily decomposed internal organs in early July. Authorities believe the remains have been in the area for a long time, as their poor condition has so far prevented identification of the species.
Investigators suspect the carcasses may be from farm animals but have not ruled out other possibilities. They are now working to determine how the remains ended up at the site.
Police are particularly interested in reports of individuals or vehicles moving suspiciously in the Mikkilä area, especially those transporting animal carcasses or parts.
