High wildfire risk across much of Sweden

Sweden’s meteorological agency SMHI reports a very high to extreme wildfire risk across southern Sweden up to Dalarna and Gästrikland, with high to very high risk along the Norrland coast, inland Norrland, and southern Gotland.

SMHI meteorologist Marie Stark warns that fires can start and spread rapidly in forests and on open land, urging the public to check local fire bans and exercise caution.

Some relief is expected by the weekend as showers move into Götaland and Svealand, with more widespread rain on Saturday and Sunday likely to reduce the risk.
