An additional class will be introduced at Námi X in Tórshavn next school year due to overwhelming interest in the maritime studies programme, the Faroese Teachers’ Association chair Jacob Eli S. Olsen wrote in Skúlablaðið.

Olsen noted, however, that it remains uncertain whether there will be space for all students who have selected this track.

A total of 360 students will begin 10th grade across the Faroe Islands in the coming academic year. Of these, 185 will attend Námi X in Tórshavn, with the remainder distributed among other schools: 55 in Klaksvík, 46 in eNámi (covering Streymin, Fuglafjørður, and Stranda schools), 41 in Runavík and Toftir, 27 in Vágur and Tvøroyri, and six at the school in Giljanes.
