Swedish security advisor left notebook at NATO summit
Sweden’s national security advisor Niclas Kvarnström left behind a notebook after attending last week’s NATO summit in Ankara, Dagens Nyheter reports, citing the Prime Minister’s Office.
The office confirmed Kvarnström left the notebook in NATO meeting rooms but stated it contained no classified information, according to the newspaper. Kvarnström attended the summit alongside Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Defence Minister Pål Jonson, meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s security advisor Akif Cagatay Kilic to discuss Sweden-Turkey-NATO relations.
Kvarnström was appointed national security advisor in July 2025, following the resignation of Henrik Landerholm, who was prosecuted for leaving classified documents at a training facility. His successor, Tobias Thyberg, resigned hours after his appointment when intimate images of him were leaked.
