Oslo bar Folk in Storgata risks a 100,000 kroner fine for broadcasting outdoor sound after 23:00 during Norway’s World Cup quarter-final against England, Dagbladet reports.
City health official Synne Schou Øhrberg said the municipal health authority takes violations of outdoor speaker permits seriously. She declined to comment on the specific case, noting it has been appealed to the County Governor, whose decision will determine any enforcement.
Øhrberg added that noise complaints are primarily handled locally, and a full overview of potential violations during the tournament will only be available after its conclusion.
Folk’s managing director, Saul Njie, told Dagbladet shortly after the match that the fine would be costly but worth it. “If we hadn’t shown the World Cup here, we would have gone bankrupt,” he said. “It’s expensive to show, but more expensive to have no income.”
