Denmark has received a European road safety award for its long-term efforts to improve traffic safety, according to national broadcaster DR.

The prize was awarded by the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) to the Danish Council for Safe Traffic. The ETSC ranks Denmark as having the third-fewest traffic fatalities per million inhabitants, behind only Norway and Sweden.

The award recognises collaboration between authorities, police, municipalities, and organisations, as well as initiatives such as safer roads, campaigns, and enforcement.
