US Central Command confirmed late Monday that new strikes against Iran had begun, marking the third consecutive night of attacks.

According to a statement, the operation aims to inflict significant damage on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to target civilian and commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Separately, the US Department of Homeland Security issued its first official statement nearly 12 hours after an ICE agent fatally shot a man during an operation in Biddeford, Maine. Authorities said the agent fired in fear for public safety when a vehicle at the scene attempted to flee.

In Sweden, a truck driver was detained after a collision with a bus on the E6 highway north of Stenungsund left nine people injured. The driver is suspected of gross negligence in traffic, aggravated assault, and driving under the influence of drugs.
