Dog attacks walker in Seinäjoki, police seek witnesses

Police in South Ostrobothnia are investigating a dog attack in Seinäjoki after a loose dog bit a person walking their own dog on Wednesday evening.

The victim suffered injuries requiring immediate medical attention. The incident occurred around 20:45 near Ruukintie in the Pelipuisto forest area.

According to police, the victim was walking their dog when the other dog suddenly attacked. The victim tried to protect their own dog before the attacking dog turned on them. The dog then fled the scene.

The attacking dog is described as large, dark or black in colour, possibly with lighter markings, and of mixed breed, roughly the size of a Labrador Retriever. The owner of the dog is not yet known to police.

Authorities are asking the dog’s owner and anyone who witnessed the incident or can identify the dog to contact South Ostrobothnia Police Department.
