A person ingested a corrosive liquid at Rødtangen Camping in Asker and was airlifted to Ullevål Hospital, Dagbladet reports.

Dina Nicander, the campsite’s managing director, confirmed the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 8. She stated the person accidentally drank from an unmarked bottle containing strong cleaning agent, prompting an emergency response involving police, air ambulance, and ground ambulance.

Nicander said the individual is recovering “as well as can be expected” and that the campsite is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness. She acknowledged a deviation from safety protocols and confirmed a review of routines for chemical storage, handling, and labeling has been conducted. The incident has been logged in the site’s health, safety, and environment (HMS) system.

To prevent recurrence, the campsite has introduced smaller, clearly labeled containers that are easier and safer to handle, Nicander added.

Oslo Police District, when contacted by Dagbladet, stated it lacked the capacity to investigate or respond to inquiries about the case.
