Finnish foreign ministry communications chief moves to NATO post

Mikko Koivumaa, Finland’s foreign ministry director of communications, will take up the role of communications director at NATO’s Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) on 17 August, Yle reports.

The agency, headquartered in Capellen, Luxembourg, manages multinational procurement and sustainment for the alliance, including fuel and air transport capabilities. Established in 1958, it is one of three NATO agencies.

Koivumaa has served as the foreign ministry’s communications director since October 2021, a five-year appointment. Prior to that, he held the same position at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment from 2017 to 2021. Earlier in his career, he worked in various communications roles at the foreign ministry and as head of communications for Finn Church Aid.
