Senior official under protection threatened, suspect at large
A senior official in Sweden’s central government—currently under protection by the security service Säpo—has been targeted with threats, Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports.
An investigation into illegal threats is being led by the Security Police (Säpo) under the direction of prosecutors from the National Security Unit. Chief prosecutor Per Lindqvist confirmed to SVT that the victim is part of the central government, which is why Säpo is handling the case.
A suspect has been identified but remains free. Lindqvist declined to disclose the location or circumstances of the alleged crime, citing confidentiality in the preliminary investigation. He would not confirm whether the threat is ongoing.
