Boy, 12, dies in Juuka traffic collision
Police in Eastern Finland have completed their investigation into a May collision between a moped and a van in Juuka that killed a 12-year-old boy, Yle reports.
The boy was riding an off-road style moped not registered for road use when he pulled from a forest road in front of the van on 9 May in the Tervonkangas area. The site’s terrain and vegetation may have contributed to the crash.
Authorities investigated the case as aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and endangerment of traffic safety. The file has been passed to prosecutors, who are still considering charges.
In May, police said there was no indication the van was speeding and its driver was not suspected of any offence. If the sole suspect in a case dies, police may still complete an investigation if others may be involved or if the circumstances must be clarified for victims, insurers, or legal protection.
