A police officer involved in a scuffle with Rasmus Takaluoma in the fall of 2022 has received a warning from their employer, according to Ilkka-Pohjalainen. The South Ostrobothnian District Court fined the officer in question for minor assault, an incident that occurred on the night Takaluoma went missing.

Teemu Heikkinen, the chief of the crime unit, provided written answers to Ilkka-Pohjalainen about the matter. “The case has been presented to the acting police chief, and a decision has now been made. The officer has received a warning under section 24 of the State Civil Servants Act,” Heikkinen confirmed to the publication.

The warning serves a legal purpose, intended as a precaution for the future. This means that should any similar misconduct occur again, the previous incident will be taken into account when considering actions such as termination or temporary suspension.

The rationale behind the warning is grounded in the officer’s failure to adhere to the expected behavioral standards outlined in section 14 of the State Civil Servants Act and section 15(f) of the Law on Police Administration, according to Heikkinen. Importantly, there is no suspicion that the officer was involved in Takaluoma’s disappearance.
