The 120-year-old shop in Vestmanna has been rebuilt and reopened, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Brothers Bjarki and Sigbjørn Skúvadal, who grew up with the shop run by their father, said they had long hoped to restore it to its original appearance from the 1950s and 1960s. “When we were younger, we thought the shop would become a period piece, but that never happened,” Bjarki Skúvadal said. “Today, we can say it has.”

Vestmanna municipality, which oversaw the reconstruction, aimed to stay as true to the original design as possible. The work has been well received, and the shop has reopened under an agreement with the local authority.
