Police in Nordland are seeking help to identify a man found dead on the uninhabited island of Mosken, between Lofotodden and Værøy, Dagbladet reports.
The body was discovered on June 12 by the organisation In the Same Boat during a beach cleanup. Authorities estimate the man, described as 2 metres tall and aged 40–60, died one to four weeks before being found.
No missing persons matching the description have been reported in Nordland. Police have checked international registries and shared DNA and biometric data with foreign law enforcement, but no matches have been found.
The man was wearing size 48 Tommy Hilfiger shoes, a white gold ring with blue and white stones, blue Mustang jeans (size 38/36), a black Mustang hooded jacket (XXXL), and a Casio G-Shock digital watch with a black strap. Police have released images of the items in hopes of identification.
Police prosecutor Jørgen Bunk Olsen said the preliminary autopsy did not determine the cause of death. With little known about the circumstances, authorities are keeping all possibilities open, including criminal activity.
Police have received multiple tips and continue to pursue leads, including further international cooperation and examination of the man’s clothing and belongings.
