The Faroese government has contributed 100 million kroner to the Suðuroyartunnilin project, bringing its total investment to 204 million kroner, according to a report by Kringvarp Føroya.

The government previously allocated 100 million kroner to the project last year, with the initial four million used to establish the partnership behind the tunnel.

Under a parliamentary agreement, the government will contribute 100 million kroner annually for the next 10 years to the Suðuroyartunnilin partnership. Once construction tenders are issued and costs are determined, legislation will be proposed to authorize the partnership to build and operate the tunnel.
