Alko stores open on Sunday for the first time
Alko stores in Finland opened on a Sunday for the first time today, following a change in alcohol laws approved by Parliament in June, state broadcaster Yle reported.
The Sello shopping centre Alko in Espoo opened its doors at noon, an event Yle covered live. Alko announced immediately after the law was passed that 35 of its 359 stores would open on Sundays from 12:00 to 18:00.
Extended opening hours will be introduced in the busiest stores, where Alko expects sufficient customer demand even on Sundays.
