University of Copenhagen reverses decision on sick exam applicants

The University of Copenhagen will now allow applicants taking sick exams in August to be considered for admission this year, reversing an earlier decision that had excluded them.

The university confirmed the change to Danish news agency Ritzau, stating that it had contacted eight directly affected applicants. A recent policy shift had set a July 5 deadline for submitting exam certificates, effectively barring those with August sick exams from this year’s intake.

Under the revised rule, applicants taking sick exams may now submit their certificates by August 31. The university is working to identify and notify others who may have received the earlier information and chose not to apply. These applicants will be granted flexibility with the deadline, according to the university.

The university is also urging any other affected individuals to contact them, as it prioritises guidance and case processing.

The deadline to apply for higher education via quota 1 is Sunday at noon. Earlier on Saturday, the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education had urged the university to accommodate sick exam applicants this year, citing previous practice that had led applicants to expect eligibility.
