Direct Faroe-Rotterdam freight route launches in August
Friday 3rd July 2026 on 13:00 in
Faroe Islands
Faroe Ship will open a direct freight route between the Faroe Islands and Rotterdam in August, the company announced on Friday.
The new route will allow Faroese exporters to ship goods directly to customers on the European mainland with shorter transit times. Faroe Ship also expects the service to benefit Faroese importers by reducing delivery times and offering additional import options.
Departures from Tórshavn will take place on Tuesday evenings, arriving in Rotterdam on Thursday evenings, with returns to Tórshavn on Mondays. The vessel Skogafoss will operate the route, with the first departure from Tórshavn scheduled for 4 August.
After a few weeks, Ålesund will be added to the route from Rotterdam, while departures from the Faroe Islands will continue directly to Rotterdam.
