Elisa and MTV resolve dispute, channels return

MTV’s channels will return to Elisa’s TV packages starting Friday at noon, following a resolution in a distribution dispute between the two companies, Yle reports.

The channels will reappear automatically for subscribers, with no action required on their end.

Elisa’s business director Sami Aalto thanked customers for their patience during the outage, noting that MTV’s free live content is now accessible again. He added that the new agreement will allow both companies to further develop their services and viewing experience.

Hundreds of thousands of Elisa customers had been without MTV’s free channels since mid-May. The dispute centered on a new contract after MTV’s ownership change in summer 2025, with MTV seeking a new funding model for content investments while Elisa preferred the old arrangement.

Neither company disclosed details of the new agreement.
