Workers in Odense develop rashes from oak processionary caterpillars

Five workers, including Danny Skov Priesner, developed rashes after exposure to oak processionary caterpillars—known locally as “the larva from hell”—while working on a roof in southeastern Odense, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

The group has since relocated to a site on the opposite side of the city, where the itch-inducing larvae have not yet been detected. Trade union 3F is now calling for clear guidelines for employers on handling the pest.
