The former head of the National Police of Denmark, Thorkild Fogde, has been appointed police director for the Vestegnen region, while Finn Borch Andersen, the former chief of the Police Intelligence Service, will take over as director of Copenhagen Police.

The moves follow widespread criticism of Denmark’s police leadership, DR reports.

Jens Meilvang, chair of the justice committee, told DR’s P1 Debat programme he would have preferred the two officials to be dismissed, calling the reassignments a missed opportunity for a “clean cut.”
