Ólavsøka choir introduces participation fee

The Faroese Choral Association will charge singers 100 krona to participate in this year’s Ólavsøka choir, marking a break from its long-standing free entry policy.

Leif Hansen, the association’s president, said the fee was necessary to help cover costs as the choir has grown significantly in recent years.

Rehearsals for the choir, led this year by conductor Ásbjørn Berthelsen, are scheduled for 15, 19, 23, and 26 July.
