Fewer traffic offences are being reported in the Faroe Islands, but serious crimes—including drug-related cases—are increasing, according to the latest statistics from Faroese police.

Police note a decline in overall reports, yet the offences recorded are more severe than in previous years. Drug seizures, for example, have grown in scale, which may indicate rising abuse, authorities say.

Another concern is the increase in reported sexual offences involving children, including more emergency calls related to very young victims.
