A district court in Ostrobothnia has sentenced Jesse Johannes Kokko to six years in prison for aggravated rape of a child and multiple sexual offences against minors.

The crimes took place in Vaasa and Ilmajoki, as well as via social media. The victims, 12 in total, were aged between 12 and 17 at the time of the offences.

According to the court, Kokko sent sexually suggestive messages to several victims through Snapchat and WhatsApp, offering money in exchange for images, videos, or sexual acts. Payments were made via PayPal and MobilePay, totalling thousands of euros. In one case, he sent €15 to a 14-year-old victim for a sexual act.

The aggravated rape involved a 14-year-old victim. Kokko had unprotected sex with the girl in his van in a secluded area of Vaasa after offering her alcohol. The court considered the act aggravated due to the victim’s age and the potential for severe harm. The victim also suffered physical pain.

In addition to the prison sentence, Kokko was ordered to pay tens of thousands of euros in compensation to the victims. He will also forfeit his computer and phone, which were used in the crimes.

The verdict is not yet final. Kokko has expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling.
