Former footballer Fredrik Gulsvik faces new charges
Former Sandefjord player Fredrik Gulsvik, already charged in a cocaine smuggling case, now faces additional allegations of money laundering and fraud, Dagbladet reports.
Gulsvik (36) and seven others were previously indicted for cocaine trafficking as part of a criminal group, as well as for handling stolen goods. On 23 June, prosecutors filed a new indictment against him for involvement in money laundering and fraud.
According to the latest charges, Gulsvik allegedly received 400,000 kroner on 21 January 2023, funds derived from fraud, and shortly afterward transferred the money to another person or facilitated its transfer.
He is also accused of multiple fraud offences, including entering financing agreements for two BMW X5 vehicles totalling nearly 3.5 million kroner with no intention of repaying the loans. Additionally, he allegedly sought 1.8 million kroner in financing from Danske Bank under false pretences.
Between 22 February and 22 March 2023, Gulsvik is said to have acquired 19 mobile phones from a Telenor store in Oslo under instalment plans, with no intent to pay, valued at 315,720 kroner. On 24 February 2023, he allegedly leased five computers and four pairs of AirPods worth 316,589 kroner, again with no intention of meeting the payment terms.
The trial is scheduled for three days in Oslo District Court starting 18 November. His defence lawyer, Alexander Greaker, has not yet discussed the new charges with Gulsvik, and his plea remains unknown.
Gulsvik previously admitted guilt in the cocaine smuggling case, having confessed to importing 16 kilograms of cocaine from Sweden on 13 January 2024. He and an accomplice were also charged with attempting to smuggle 18 kilograms from the Netherlands on 28 June 2024, though Dutch police intercepted the shipment. He further faces charges of aggravated handling of stolen goods, allegedly receiving the equivalent of 3.8 million kroner in cash, which was hidden in a carโs centre console.
