Heavy flooding disrupted parts of Copenhagen Airport on Wednesday after a sprinkler pipe was damaged during construction work in the new terminal, according to airport communications director Lise Agerley Kürstein.

The rupture sent large volumes of water cascading through Terminal 2 beyond passport control, swamping shops and restaurants. Several businesses, including clothing retailer Ganni, were forced to close temporarily.

Airlines and baggage check-in services were briefly affected but have since returned to normal operation, Kürstein said. No luggage was exposed to water.

Airport staff are now working to clear the remaining water. “Everyone is out there mopping up and doing everything possible to make this a good place for passengers again. We’re working at full speed to resolve this,” she added.
