The Faroese national road authority Landsverk does not bear responsibility for rising public construction costs, according to its former director Sigurd L. Lamhauge, who led the agency from 2019 to 2024.

Lamhauge told KVF that owners, not Landsverk, drive up expenses by demanding changes to original plans after work begins, such as adding a new kitchen or elevator within the same budget.

He opposes a decision by infrastructure minister Jacob Vestergaard to dismantle Landsverk’s planning department, arguing the move will not address the root cause of cost overruns.
