June warmer than average with five extra hot days
Finland recorded above-average temperatures in June, with the monthly mean 1–2°C higher than the long-term average across most of the country, the Finnish Meteorological Institute reports.
Hot days—defined as days with temperatures of at least 25°C—totalled 13, five more than the typical June average of eight.
The month’s highest temperature, 29.5°C, was recorded at the Salo Kärkä observation station on 29 June. The lowest, –2.5°C, was measured in Kittilä’s Lompolonvuoma on 2 June.
Rainfall was close to normal for most regions, though Lapland saw unusually high precipitation. The highest rainfall, 135.3 mm, was recorded in Posio’s Raistakka.
