Prosecutors in the Faroe Islands are seeking a jury trial for two men, aged 53 and 37, charged with attempted arson, aggravated assault, and robbery, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The alleged crimes occurred in a residential building in Tórshavn on the evening of February 18, 2026. The men are accused of beating and kicking a resident multiple times to steal beer, cider, cash, and a credit card. The victim was struck in the head and face.
One of the suspects also allegedly threatened to kill the victim if they reported the incident to police. The men are further charged with setting fire to a sofa and a bed, though the flames were extinguished before spreading. The smoke from the fire was toxic, according to the indictment.
Both men have pleaded guilty. They have been in custody since February 19—one in Vestre Prison, the other in Mjørkadalur—and remain remanded until at least tomorrow. Prosecutors are requesting an extension of their detention.
If convicted, the prosecution is seeking a minimum sentence of four years in prison.
