Danish police to test for nitrous oxide in traffic

Danish police will now test for nitrous oxide in drivers following a series of serious and fatal traffic accidents involving the gas, state broadcaster DR reports.

Two police districts will pilot a new device capable of detecting nitrous oxide in exhaled breath. Until now, officers have lacked equipment to screen for the substance during traffic stops or accident responses, unlike existing tools for alcohol and narcotics.
