Danish beaches see exemplary behaviour during record heat
Danish beaches were packed over the weekend as temperatures soared above 30°C, but lifeguards reported no life-threatening incidents, according to national broadcaster DR.
Jens Riisgaard, a lifeguard with TrygFonden stationed at Henne Strand in western Jutland, said beachgoers were well-prepared, bringing plenty of water and following safety advice. Strong winds were absent, making conditions in the North Sea calmer than usual.
While no rescues were needed, lifeguards treated many cases of jellyfish stings, particularly among children, using numbing spray. They also posted updates on conditions at their station and remained available for questions.
TrygFonden opened its lifeguard towers nationwide for the first time this year on Friday.
