Police in Lahti are investigating the murder of a woman found dead in a Tonttila apartment building late Saturday, with a 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the crime, Yle reports.
The victim’s 31-year-old spouse had filed for divorce from the suspect, whose address is not the apartment where the body was discovered. Investigators confirm the case involves domestic violence within a close relationship.
Police detained the suspect hours after the allegation emerged Sunday. The investigation continues with interrogations and technical evidence review, according to lead investigator Jari Kiiskinen.
The suspect has no significant criminal record in the past decade but was convicted in 2020 of gross traffic endangerment for speeding at 110 km/h in a 60 km/h zone with passengers, receiving a 50-day fine totaling €300. Court records also show outstanding debt claims against him.
