Child dies after construction materials collapse in Mäntsälä

A six-year-old boy died in Mäntsälä after construction panels fell on him while he was playing with a five-year-old boy on a residential property, Itä-Uudenmaan police reported.

The accident occurred in October 2024 on Kenkäkalliontie street. The boys were playing in the yard of the five-year-old’s home when the panels, stored on a pallet cart, toppled onto them. The younger boy was injured.

Police have completed their preliminary investigation and suspect one individual of causing death, causing bodily harm, and endangerment. The case has been referred to the prosecutor for consideration of charges.
