Teen dies in swimming accident in Kvinesdal

Emil Grindheim, 19, from Lista in Farsund municipality, died in a swimming accident in Kvinesdal on 27 June, Agder police district confirmed in a press release on Tuesday.

Grindheim was an active Rugby League player and captain of a national age-group team, his family said in a statement shared by police. “Emil was a joyful and active Rugby League player. As captain of the age-group national team, he had a long active life ahead of him. He was suddenly taken from us, leaving family and friends in grief.”

Emergency services responded in force after reports of a person in the water near the potholes at Kvitingen in Kvinesdal on Saturday afternoon, but were unable to save him.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, in which the victim had been swimming with friends. Based on current information, it appears to be a tragic accident, said HÃ¥vard Stokke Gleditsch, lead investigator at Flekkefjord and Kvinesdal police station.
