The Faroese Red Cross and the Faroese government have jointly pledged 800,000 krona in emergency aid to Venezuela following recent earthquakes, according to a report by Faroese broadcaster KVF.
The funds will support those most severely affected, with priorities including lifesaving assistance, family reunification, rescue operations, healthcare, first aid, psychological support, and access to clean water, sanitation, and medical supplies. Aid will also help families who have lost contact with relatives.
The earthquakes have affected an estimated 9.7 million people. Official figures report 1,450 deaths and 3,150 injuries, though numbers are expected to rise as more victims are found in rubble. Infrastructure has also suffered extensive damage, with over 204 buildings destroyed, 217 severely damaged, and 300 others sustaining partial damage.
