Man expected to admit violent murder and attempted murder
A 33-year-old man is expected to plead guilty at a court hearing next week in a case involving the murder of a 58-year-old man in Vejle in November 2024, according to court documents obtained by DR Nyheder from Sydøstjyllands Politi.
The suspect, who remains charged but not yet indicted, is accused of arriving at the victim’s address around 04:00, masked and wearing rain gear and shoe covers. Police allege he struck the 58-year-old repeatedly in the head with a club, stabbed him multiple times, and then carved offensive words into the body after death.
DR Nyheder has chosen not to publish the words out of respect for the victim and due to incomplete investigative details.
Authorities state the man carried a bag containing shoe covers, gaffer tape, a visor, cloths, flammable liquid, and fire-starting materials. An hour after the killing, he allegedly attacked two residents at another Vejle address, breaking in with a club and chasing them through the home. The assault failed after the victims resisted and called police.
The suspect has been in pretrial detention since his arrest. Prosecutors seek a custodial sentence at Sikringen in Slagelse, a secure facility for the country’s most dangerous mentally ill offenders. The case is scheduled for conclusion on July 10.
