New Faroese diploma programme to strengthen educational support

A new part-time diploma programme in education will launch in January at the University of the Faroe Islands, aimed at strengthening the role of support staff in schools, KVF reports.

According to Sonja Olsen, a teacher and PhD researcher, the programme is tailored to Faroese conditions and designed for support workers already active in educational settings. University officials expect the initiative to directly improve educational support once it begins.

The move follows concerns that Faroese children are increasingly exposed to a simplified version of the Faroese language, with reduced vocabulary, partly due to the influence of digital media.
