Search underway after report of person in water in Kvinesdal
A large-scale rescue operation is underway at the Kvitingen potholes in Kvinesdal, southern Norway, following reports of a person in the water, Dagbladet reports.
Operations manager Vegard Heyn of Agder police district confirmed in a log update that air resources, including a rescue helicopter and air ambulance with divers, have been deployed to the scene. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre is assisting with additional aircraft.
Police first reported the incident shortly after 16:00 on Saturday. High water levels and strong currents are complicating dive efforts, according to authorities.
As of 18:13, the person had not been located. An underwater drone has arrived and will be used in the search. The missing person’s next of kin have been notified, Heyn stated.
SAR Queen, air ambulance crews, river rescuers, and volunteers are participating in the operation.
