Denmark will lead the first Arctic Council delegation focused on disaster response, with Jens Heine Grauen Larsen—a Faroese-Dane who attended school in Tórshavn—at the helm, Faroese broadcaster KVF reports.

A major conference on safeguarding the Arctic marine environment amid increasing disaster risks will take place from 13 to 15 October. The event targets officials who may be called upon during large-scale maritime emergencies, such as a scenario requiring the rescue of 4,000 passengers from a stricken cruise ship.
