Oslo is preparing for an unusually busy weekend as record temperatures coincide with a World Cup match, Pride parade, and the Tons of Rock festival, authorities told Dagbladet.

Tens of thousands of additional visitors are expected in the capital, with Norway set to face France in the World Cup on Friday, the Pride parade on Saturday, and the sold-out Tons of Rock festival running all weekend on Ekebergsletta.

“Drink plenty, not just beer—water too,” advised Harald Nilssen, chief of staff at Oslo Police District. He confirmed that police and emergency services are ready for a high-traffic weekend but noted all events are intended to be enjoyable.

Oslo University Hospital has deployed extra ambulances and staff to high-activity areas, a spokesperson said.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has warned of a heatwave across eastern Norway, with temperatures nearing 30°C in several regions, including Oslo. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health reiterated advice on health risks, noting that while most tolerate the heat well, vulnerable individuals should take precautions and stay hydrated.

Public transport operator Ruter has added extra-long metro trains until midnight for the World Cup match and shuttle buses every five minutes for festivalgoers. Trams may be disrupted by the Pride parade, so the metro is recommended as the most reliable option.

Police maintain close coordination with event organizers, with a visible presence planned for the Pride parade, as in previous years.
