Faroese school shortlisted for Nordic environmental award

A Faroese school in Klaksvík is among eight finalists for this year’s Nordic Council Environment Prize, the school’s director, Jóhanna á Tjaldrafløtti, told Kringvarp Føroya.
Rótin, formerly known as Húsarhaldsskúlin, is in the running for the 300,000 krona prize, which this year recognises initiatives that empower young people to shape their own future, contribute to a sustainable culture, and address climate change.
The winner will be announced on 20 October and awarded at the Nordic Council’s session in Helsinki on 28 October. A total of 53 nominations were submitted for the prize.
