Navigare Shipping launches new vessel Hav Leiti

Navigare Shipping has launched its newest vessel, MV Hav Leiti, in Harlingen, the Netherlands, the Faroese broadcaster KVF reports.

The ship is the first of four sister vessels ordered by the company. At 90 metres long, 15 metres wide, and nearly 4,000 gross tons, it is significantly larger than any vessel currently in Navigare’s fleet.

Hav Leiti is a general cargo ship with a strong emphasis on environmental solutions, including green energy use and reduced emissions. Its diesel-electric propulsion system is powered by four electric motors, and an electric deck crane further cuts both energy consumption and emissions.

The remaining three sister ships are scheduled for delivery to Navigare later this year and next.
