Danish conscripts will be deployed to Greenland, Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus confirmed in a parliamentary response on Tuesday.

Under the extended 11-month conscription, recruits will be trained to support the armed forces’ operational tasks, the minister stated. They will serve alongside professional soldiers as part of Greenland’s broader defence efforts.

Citing confidential documents, TV 2 reported in March that around 100 conscripts were set to be sent to Greenland after the summer. The minister’s response did not specify numbers or timelines.

In a separate reply, Bruus noted that deployments would follow the established rotation of units assigned to increase Denmark’s presence in Greenland. Conscripts will integrate into units with permanent staff, performing duties aligned with their training.
