The Faroese High Court has begun hearing an appeal in the case of a 28 April 2024 assault near Sandá, reports KVF.

A 36-year-old Polish man was previously convicted in the Faroese Court of secure custody, deportation, and ordered to pay over 200,000 DKK in compensation for pain and suffering, as well as lost earnings. The victim, a woman, was left in a life-threatening condition.

The prosecution appealed the verdict directly to the High Court. The appeal hearing, scheduled for three days, commenced today.

Ingolf Olsen, who is following the case in the High Court, stated that no significant new evidence has yet emerged.
